Lessons: Strings & Things
For some people, music comes naturally while others struggle with it, but wherever you are on your journey, it would be an honor for me to help you get to where you want to go. I‘m available for remote lessons via Zoom and FaceTime. I teach guitar, bass, dobro, steel guitar, mandolin and ukulele and cover a wide range of topics including repertoire, theory, improvisation, songwriting, recording, music business and pretty much anything else I’ve picked up over the years.
In my own studies I first learned from Montgomery, Alabama’s renowned guitar instructor Jimmy Mills and Birmingham saxophonist Sean Nowell, followed by courses in music composition and theory at Birmingham-Southern College, jazz composition and guitar performance at Berklee College of Music and finally in Gospel music and music technology at University of Alabama Birmingham. I studied remotely online with my favorite musical innovator, guitarist Wayne Krantz, and privately in weekly duo sessions with Alabama guitar legend Mark Kimbrell. In my work as a musician, I’ve led bands, produced records, composed music for television, played with a diverse variety of world-class musicians and worn about every hat you can wear in the music business. I’ve learned a lot though all these experiences and opportunities over the past 30 years, and I do my best to share as much of it as possible in every lesson.
If you have a passion for music and a desire to learn, I can help you become a better musician by assessing your abilities and teaching you how to set goals and achieve them. Please contact me for more information or purchase lessons now in my store.
